There are plenty of features that lean manager can be described with. It is difficult to list all of it but there are some listed below:
- Think on long term.
- Focus on customers and customers’ demand and build strategy accordingly.
- Strategy is subdivided to yearly goal and further subdivided to department goals.
- Involve people, goals are well known by all employees.
- Provides all necessary resource, support and keep motivating people to reach the company goal.
- Makes management focus to continuously improve processes.
- Aware of the full value stream in the supply chain.
- Set key performance indicators and targets of processes.
- Make sure that all employees are aware of targets and actual value of the key performance indicators.
- Use visual management tool to make it understood for everyone.
- Act like a leader, inspires people, builds organization, improves individuals.
Lean manager focuses on people
Lean manager inspires and motivates people to make the every day activities in align with the company’s yearly goals and long term strategy. Considers people as value. As a result of lean management people do not work more or harder. People work smarter. Employees focus their energy for those processes that really count for customers. Managers have very important role to set a lean company culture.
